An interview with Ruby Robinson. Ruby Robinson is definitely the new Jazz Diva for our era. This young lady has performed on stages all over the UK, at some excellent venues, including Upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s in London, and Swing 46 Jazz and Supper Club at Times Square, New York City. She has toured around the UK as a vocalist with several Big Bands, appearing at many of the Ambassador Theatre Groups theatre venues, such as Richmond Theatre and Wimbledon Theatre. Ruby has been featured for the last three years as one of the special guest vocalists at the critically acclaimed 1940s gala Big Band Blitz (which was featured in BBCs Strictly Come Dancing). She has also devised and choreographed shows for Pontins. Ruby Robinson has fantastic stage presence, an excellent stylistic technique, a strong warm voice, and a versatile repertoire from the Great American Song Book, and some newer popular writers. Ruby Robinson is without doubt a ‘Star’ in the making.

‘Wabi-Sabi’ is a traditional Japanese way of describing an aesthetic perception of the world’s beauty through its imperfection, finding sophistication in simplicity. A renown musician once pointed out that this understanding was perfectly represented by his shabby old guitar, which he still played during the creation of most of his band’s songs.

A musical patchwork of pensive joy and thoughtful sadness, impressive mature melodies, and deep lyrics accompanied by richly textured instrumentation, help Pasha Black to tell his picturesque story. His commitment to every small detail of his music enables him to take his listener’s minds to faraway places, allowing their spirits to soar.
